Born and raised in Kenya, Zainab was the first ever female Kenyan to be licensed as a skydiver in 2014. After doing her first tandem skydive, she instantly fell in love with the sport and quickly signed up to complete the skydive school herself.
After obtaining her skydiving license, Zainab spent the next few years traveling the world gaining as much knowledge and experience in the sport as she could. She also spent multiple seasons working at dropzones in South Africa, Germany and the United States learning how skydive centres operate. Once she gained enough experience and her first 500 jumps, Zainab undertook the intensive challenge of earning both her Tandem and AFF Instructor ratings in 2019, making her the first ever Kenyan to be recognized internationally as a multi-rated instructor.
More recently, Zainab traveled to the United States where she undertook the additional challenge of attending the Elite Rigging Academy where she studied directly under the President, Derek Thomas, Designated Parachute Rigger Examiner, earning an FAA Senior Parachute Rigging Certification. This also makes Zainab the first Kenyan to achieve an internationally recognized parachute rigging certificate.
